![]() ![]() I have an external 2TB hard drive - but for some reason FCP doesn't 'see' it - so I can't save my work there. I've found it quite difficult to learn the program without a manual - but have been doing some online tutorials which have helped. I'm new to FCP and reasonably new to mac - so I'm sure that I've probably made some error in the way my projects and events are saved. It helps to work without the waveforms displayed as these slow things down considerably.ĭo you have FC Studio or a version of FCP on the same drive partition as FCP X? This is known to cause problems and not advised by Apple. I have over 3700 clips distributed between five events at the moment and FCP X is coping very well most of the time. To be absolutely certain my MacPro's system was squeaky clean, I then did a clean reinstall (not TimeMachine) and FCP X has worked reliably ever since.įCP X application should be in your Applications folder and ideally, your project and events should all be on an external HD and not on your Mac system drive. I did this, and FCP X worked perfectly on the new account, meaning there was definitely a conflict on my existing system. If you're getting crashes, autosave problems etc, there is more than likely some conflict on your system drive.Ī way to test this is to create a new (admin) user on your Mac system and try FCP X from there. It happened to me and here's the conclusion I've come to since. I'm sorry, if Autosave wasn't working, there's no way to get your work back. If there are no other options to get lost work back than Apple needs to know and begin to fix this problem soon, if there are than please help me. ![]() I'm considering telling my client I'm sorry but lost to much work to continue. Seriously, What can be done if anything I absolutely do NOT want to redo all the exact work which had to be done in the first place to get the movie looking right. My preferences in Final Cut are set to autosave every 15 minutes and I did not touch the project file in documents (which I'm not sure can be moved in this new Final Cut anyway) I could understand if it was a few meager effects I had placed within the last five minutes I had the software running but it was so much work suddenly lost, and I cannot find the actual work anywhere, despite having an exported video on my desktop! However Today I openned Final Cut back up and was going to finish working on color correction and sound issues, but my entire project was missing the last FOUR HOURS of work I put into it. I only closed it to give my computer a break which was struggling at this point.) (I knew there was not a 'save' command since the entire thing is autosave, I figured I'd be covered. Basically after a project with multitudes of exact editing was almost finished, I exported what I had from Final Cut Pro X and Exited the program with the intention of putting the finishing touched on it the next day. ![]()
